Pineapple upside-down cake

Dah lama dah sebenarnya beli buku masakan ni. Beli kat savers jer. Aku tertarik dengan buku ni sebab gambar-gambar masakannya yang sanggat menyelerakan lagi menggiurkan disamping harganya yang tersangatlah murah… Just aud$2.99…

Hari ni aku cuba one of the recipes dalam buku ni. Tersangatlah senang nak membuatnya dan memang sedap. Korang nak cuba buat tak? Try lah!Ini resipinya…


Pineapple upside-down cake @k@ kek nenas tonggang terbalik ;p

*Pineapple upside-down cake is an old-time favourite as well as one of the most popular choices for novice cooks. It is quick and easy to make in the microwave oven, and it rises just as well as when conventionally baked. Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream is the perfect accompaniment.*

~ Ingredients for 8 servings ~

1 1/4 cups brown sugar, 250g butter or margarine, 450g can pineapple slices (drained), maraschino cherries, 1/2 cup caster sugar, 2 eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla essence, yellow food colouring, 1 1/2 cups self-raising flour, 2 tablespoons milk

~ Microwave cookware ~

33 cm x 23 cm baking dish

1 ~ Place brown sugar and 125 g butter in baking dish. Cook on High (100% power) for 3 - 5 minutes, until butter has melted, stirring twice.

2 ~ Arrange pineapple slices in sugar mixture. Place 1 maraschino cherry in center of each slice and if you like, place extra cherries between slices. Put aside.

3 ~ With mixer at low speed, beat caster sugar and remaining butter in a large bowl until light and fluffy, occasionally scraping bowl. Gradually beat in eggs, vanilla essence and 1-2 drops food colouring. Gently fold in flour alternately with milk, until blended. Carefully pour over fruit in baking dish; smooth surface.

4 ~ Elevate baking dish on a trivet, rack or ramekins turned upside down. Cook on high for 10-12 minutes, until cake springs back when lightly touched with a finger, rotating dish halfway through cooking.

5 ~ Allow cake to stand in dish on a heatproof surface for 10 minutes. Loosen cake from sides of dish with knife. Invert dish on to a serving platter; carefully unmould cake.

6 ~ Cut cake into 8 portions. Serve warm or cover and refrigerate to serve chilled later.

Rajinnya aku taip balik resepi dari buku ni ek? Demi korang… huhuhu…

Dan inilah hasilnya… Tak lah secantik hasil dalam buku tu tapi bolehlah untuk percubaan kali pertama. Hehehe… Aku buat ni pun sikit jer. Untuk portion 2 orang sebab tu nampak kecik.
